The Beauty Project

Selfridges have teamed up with Dove to host a series of live debates on issues surrounding the beauty industry today, and me and Layla popped along to have a look.

They'd put a lot of money into the supporting materials for the campaign, including a beautiful set of stills by photographer Norbert Schoerner, glamming up the shop, creating a jazzy studio-style salon full of beauty treats and shiny things, outdoor flags and banners, window sets, a photobooth and of course a hashtag. You can check out the buzz here. Thandie Newton has even made an appearance as one of the panelists.

Layla was very serious and got heavily involved in the debate...

While I messed around and took selfies...

Layla ever did so well in the discussion, the organisers wanted her to do a mini interview! She was rocking the long black dress in the studio film star lights.

After the talk they offered free hand massage treatments and micro facials for a donation to the Dermalogica charity FITE (Financial Independence through Entrepreneurship), which encourages people to give a helping hand to disadvantaged women looking to get into the business world. Very inspiring.

We then had to go back to work, but not before we had a quick play research session in the #beautyproject photo booth.

We left with a recyclable canvas bag for FITE, a mini Dermalogica collection set with Microfoliant, Toner, Hydrating Booster, Masque and MultiVitamin Power Firm. My skin will be so soft... I'll show you a peak of the results later. The pack also contained a handmade bracelet made in Ethiopia from old bullet castings. I think it's a very poignant statement and I'm wearing mine. Get yours here.
